Kevin Feige is well-known in Hollywood and raced to the top after becoming the president of Marvel Studios in 2007. Spear-heading a number of new phases for the production company and partly responsible for bringing Avengers Assemble, Age of Ultron, Infinity War and Endgame to the top of the box office, 46-year-old Feige continues to build on the company with Marvel’s Phase 4. But just as the new era of the studio comes into view, it has now been reported the producer could be moving towards a future with Star Wars instead. The Hollywood Reporter claimed Feige is developing a new movie in Lucasfilm’s franchise.

Despite being well-known for his work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe though, it’s no secret that the producer is a huge Star Wars fan.

So it’s not too much of a surprise to learn Feige would be thrilled at the opportunity to help Kathleen Kennedy in the Star Wars universe.

According to the publication, sources said Feige met with Kennedy and studio co-chairmen Alan Horn and Alan Bergman earlier this year to discuss him moving across franchises at Disney.

Horn reportedly said: “We are excited about the projects Kathy and the Lucasfilm team are working on.

“Not only in terms of Star Wars but also Indiana Jones and reaching into other parts of the company including Children of Blood and Bone with Emma Watts and Fox.

“With the close of the Skywalker Saga, Kathy is pursuing a new era in Star Wars storytelling.

“And knowing what a die-hard fan Kevin is, it made sense for these two extraordinary producers to work on a Star Wars film together.”

Meanwhile, Disney CEO Bob Iger recently claimed original creator George Lucas was deeply unhappy with the sequels in the Skywalker series, and in particular The Force Awakens.

According to Iger, Lucas was “disappointed” by the film, and was concerned not enough changes to the format had been made.

In his latest book Iger’s The Ride of a Lifetime: Lessons Learned from 15 Years as CEO of the Walt Disney Company, the CEO shared his memory of a pre-production meeting.

Iger explained: “In each of the films in the original trilogy, it was important to him to present new worlds, new stories, new characters, and new technologies.

“In this one, he said, ‘There weren’t enough visual or technical leaps forward.’

“He wasn’t wrong, but he also wasn’t appreciating the pressure we were under to give ardent fans a film that felt quintessentially Star Wars,” Iger went on.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is released in cinemas December 20.

Marvel Phase 4 will continue with Black Widow, Thor: Love and Thunder, TV series The Mandalorian, among others.
