Meghan Markle reveals glimpse of baby bump as she attends royals' Christmas church service
Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, 37, has enjoyed an exciting year marrying Prince Harry, 34, and announcing the pair are expecting a baby together. While Meghan spent Christmas by husband’s side last year, this year marks the first time the Duchess has celebrated the festivities has fully-fledged member of the royal family. Over the past few weeks, reports have suggested Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, 36, and Meghan have had a “rift”. But the pair dispelled the rumours this morning as they arrived for the Christmas Day service at Church of St Mary Magdalene on the Sandringham estate.
As the pair arrived with Prince Harry and Prince William, 36, they shared a smile and appeared to be chuckling at something one or the other had said.
Meghan’s bump has been more on show in previous weeks, but today, especially in the cold weather, Meghan only revealed a glimpse of her expectant baby.
She wore a calf-length navy dress which featured a V-neck in a T-shirt style.
The Duchess teamed this with a matching colour, military style coat, with silver buttons, as well as a navy hat with navy feathers, which tilted to the left.
A pair of knee high black boots helped keep the cold out for the pregnant royal, but she still decided to leave her coat unbuttoned so onlookers could catch a glimpse of her baby bump.
She carried a pair of black leather gloves in a right hand, while she linked arms with her husband, and also clung to a small black leather bag which featured a gold clasp.
She finished off the look with some delicate jewellery – a small, thin chain necklace with three stones, which was just about visible in close-up photographs, a pair of very small silver hoop earrings, and a low chignon hairstyle.
Kate on the other hand opted for some more colour – instead a festive dark red.
She wore a fastened up, skirted coat, with a velvet collar, buttons and sleeve cuffs along with burgundy gloves, a burgundy hat and a pair of burgundy, pointed-toe heels.
The loose curls in her hair tumbled down her back, and a silver flower brooch worn on her left breast and some thick silver hoop earrings finished off the look.
Other members of the royal family pictured arriving for the church service in Sandringham today included Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles, Princess Beatrice and Autumn Phillips, Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank, Prince Edward, Early of Wessex and his wife Sophie, Countess of Wessex.
According to reports, the Queen’s husband, Prince Phillip, will not be present at the church this year, but according to a Reuters source he is in “perfectly good health”.
After the royal family attend the church service they will no doubt then return to enjoy some Christmas dinner together.
Shortly after, the Queen’s Christmas Day speech will be broadcast on TV.
This year Her Majesty will use her Christmas Day broadcast to say the Christian message of “peace on Earth and goodwill to all” is needed “as much as ever”.
