Meghan Markle vs Kate Middleton Australia style: Did Duchess of Sussex take outfit tips?
Meghan Markle, 37, and Prince Harry, 34, have regularly been pictured in view of the world’s media this month, as they headed Down Under for a royal tour.
Yesterday, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex – who married in May earlier this year – enjoyed the final day of the 16-day visit to Australasia.
Prince Harry’s brother, Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton, both 36, travelled across the world for their own royal trip to Australia back in 2014.
So, as the American and her spouse make their return from the visit, how have Meghan’s outfits differed from the Duchess of Cambridge‘s?
While being best known for their charity work and royal status, both Meghan and Kate often make headlines for their stylish wardrobe choices.
Baring in mind she announced she was pregnant while on the trip, the Duchess of Sussex is likely to have specifically chosen some of her outfits to suit. But has she taken style tips from her sister-in-law? It’s clear they both have their own style, but they’ve both donned similar tones during their Australasia trips.
When they wowed in white
Pictured next to her husband on her first official trip as the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate opted for a stunning white mid length dress.
The outfit – by Lela Rose – featured a high neckline and lace pattern on the shoulders and at her waistline, and she teamed the get-up with a pair of dark heels.
Meanwhile, Meghan was also pictured wearing white while she was away on a trip to Fiji – for a similarly formal event.
Her Zimmerman gown fell to just below to her knees, and featured a figure-hugging bodice.
Opting for casual attire
During their royal tours, both couples have sported more practical outfits for the day’s activities.
While based in New Zealand, Kate sported a pair of blue skinny jeans, a matching rain coat, and pale grey trainers.
Meghan was also spotted taking a stroll with her spouse in a similar get-up: navy jeans and a water-proof. She also sported a pair of white sneakers from the eco-friendly brand Veja.
Royal blue
Meghan hit the headlines earlier this week, after she stepped out in a slinky blue number.
Her custom-made two-piece, designed by Givenchy, comprised of a sweater which had a crew neckline.
But, it was the navy pleated skirt which sparked attention, as the ensemble was semi-sheer.
Years earlier, Kate stepped out in a brighter shade of blue, after touching down in Canberra.
The Stella McCartney shift dress had short sleeves, and the design drew attention to her slender waist.
A pop of red
For one royal engagement, Kate opted for vibrant tones – in a red Luisa Spagnoli suit.
The outfit featured large black buttons down the centre of the peplum jacket, and a matching body-con skirt.
Recently, while in Tonga, Meghan also stepped out in the same bold shade – but in a very different style of dress.
Her Self Portrait garment had long sleeves, but the fabric, which was cut to below her knees, billowed in the wind around her.
