Melania Trump confuses fans with coat that looks like a tiny dress as she steps off plane

Melania Trump, 48, landed at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland, this morning after the unannounced trip to Iraq to visit American troops. The First Lady has worn a vibrant yellow outfit costing $1700 for the trip, and her return outfit was no less bright. Mum-of-one Melania chose a forest green double breasted coat with a green fine knit top underneath to beat the winter chill. She paired this with a pair of brown leather leggings which she last wore in Finland. They are from Ralph Lauren, and cost £789 ($998).

But it wasn’t the origins of the outfit that caught the attention of social media – instead many confused Melania’s coat and leggings combo for a mini dress and bare legs.

Footage of her walking out of Air Force One has been taken from a distance, making it less clear than close up photos released slightly later.

On watching Melania descend the plane steps, many took to Twitter to share their initial confusion on her look.

One wrote: “Lol at first glance it looked like she was wearing just a short dress!! Of Course, she has gold leggings on and looks amazing.”

One agreed, and said: “Me too…I’m thinking ‘that’s a SHORT dress…oh, she’s got leggings…’”

Another said: “Melania wearing only green coat and underwear! No trousers or skirt.”

Melania paired her coat and leggings with a pair of brown leather flat pumps and gradient lens sunglasses.

She wore her newly blonde hair straight over her shoulders.

Make-up wise, Mrs Trump kept it low-key, wearing nude lipstick and a swipe of bronzer.

Yesterday, Melania met soldiers with her husband at a military base. In a fitting move, she wore a military inspired jacket with a belt and large pockets.

Melania’s ensemble came to a total of £1,758.06.

The jacket retails at $1,000 or £791.01, the the green trousers from the same brand cost £787.05 or $995.

On her feet the First Lady wore sensible Timberland boots.

The premium six inch boots for women in yellow costs £180.

Her make-up was bronzed and bright with shiny pale pink lip gloss.
