Melania Trump makes THIS unlikely encounter as she pays respect to Barbara Bush

Melania Trump, 47, has been known to attend events without her husband Donald Trump, 71, in the past. So it came as no surprise when the First Lady appeared alone at the funeral of Barbara Bush – the wife of George H. W. Bush, who was the 41st President of the United States.

The US President chose not to attend the funeral of the former First Lady, out of “respect for the Bush family”. In his absence, Melania attended to represent him.

While there were a host of familiar faces at the funeral, which was held at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church in Houston, Melania was seen sat next to former President Barack Obama.

But rather than it being an awkward encounter, the pair appeared friendly in each other’s company. Obama’s wife, Michelle Obama, 54, was also in attendance.

There were more than 1,000 mourners gathered at the funeral. Other attendees included former Presidents George H. W. Bush, George Bush, Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton.

It was adorned with a sequin trim along the top and bottom of the piece.

The fairly simple dress, by Melania standards, was perfectly offset with a gorgeous pair of statement heels – glittery peach-coloured Louboutins.

She made sure they were showed off with a deep tan, which stood out against the light-coloured dress.

Her hair was kept simple, falling in soft waves over her shoulders.

The press conference was part of an all-day summit with their Japanese guests. The day started with a working lunch, then the press conference and photo call, followed by a joint dinner between the two couples.

The event took place at the president’s Mar-a-Lago hotel and country club.

Earlier last week, Melania stunned photographers in a striped monochrome dress and white stilettos. 

Donald and his wife took part in a rare public display of affection, holding hands as they walked across the grass with their guests.

Melania in particular looked very happy with her husband as clutched his hand and smiled broadly.

Donald mirrored his wife with a striped tie to match her stripy flared frock.
