Melania Trump news: First Lady steps out in £1300 coat on solo Africa trip without Donald
Melania Trump set out for her trip to Africa in style yesterday, as she donned a camel-toned number.
Oozing sophistication, she had slipped into the mid-length suede trench-coat by fashion brand Vince.
The garment, which retails at $1,695 – equating to around £1,300 – cinched at the First Lady’s waist with the help of a matching belt.
The 48-year-old opted for bare legs in the get-up, which fell to her knees.
Melania teamed her look with a pair of leopard print stilettos – which are thought to be designed by Manolo Blahnik.
Shielding her eyes from the sun as she prepared to board her military airplane at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, the mother-of-one added a pair of large sunglasses.
She wore her sleek highlighted locks in tousled curls, which cascaded around her shoulders.
The First Lady kept her make-up simple – enhancing her pretty features with a sweeping of highlighter and a slick of pale pink lipstick.
As she exited her car, the former fashion model turned in the direction of the paparazzi.
She offered a soft smile, and raised her left hand to wave for the cameras.
Melania began her first major solo trip yesterday, as she flew to Africa for a four-country tour.
The visit is her first international public visit without her husband, the 45th and current President of the United States.
The itinerary will see her visit Ghana, Malawi, Kenya, and Egypt, with her returning to Washington, US, on October 7.
Her current travels will be focused on her Be Best campaign – an initiative dedicated to “children and their well-being,” and advocates against cyberbullying and drug use.
As she embarked on the trip, a video of some highlights of the campaign was shared on her official Twitter account, in view of her 11 million followers.
Beside the post, a caption read: “We are taking off for #Africa!
“So looking forward to visiting #Ghana #Malawi #Kenya & #Egypt as I take #BeBest international. #FLOTUSinAfrica2018.”
Last week, Donald addressed her trip, as he swooned over the continent.
He told journalists: “We both love Africa.
“Africa is so beautiful, the most beautiful part of the world, in many ways.”
