Nigel Farage says Republicans should donate to Bernie Sanders for very surprising reason
The leading Brexiteer made the extraordinary call at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), an annual meeting of the American right. Mr Farage added Jeremy Corbyn’s Labour Party leadership was a “huge contributory factor to Brexit getting done” and suggested Republicans could learn from Labour’s move to the hard-left.
He said: “You should be backing Bernie Sanders, you should be campaigning for Bernie Sanders, you should be donating money to Bernie Sanders.
“You need a Democrat Party that’s as far left-wing and as anti-American as they possibly can be.”
Bernie Sanders, who describes himself as a democratic socialist, is currently leading the race for the Democratic presidential nomination to challenge Trump.
However he faces a tough challenge over the weekend in South Carolina, which polls suggest could back his rival Joe Biden.
Mr Biden served as vice-president under Obama for eight years from 2009 to 2017.
During his address Mr Farage claimed another Trump term could mark the “end of the globalist project”.
He stated: “With four more years of Donald Trump we will complete the job.”
During the 2016 presidential election Mr Farage was an enthusiastic Trump supporter and campaigned for the Republican nominee.

Speaking to Sky News he mocked Remainers who still refuse to accept the Brexit result as being like members of the “Flat Earth Society”.
He singled out Lord Adonis, the Labour peer who has said he will refuse to use commemorative Brexit coins, for criticism.
Mr Farage also used the interview to declare victory commenting: “To see today even Tony Blair say its happening, lets get on with it, make a success of it.
“The war is over.”
Revellers sang ‘Rule Britannia’ and waved union jack flags.
The event was organised by Leave Means Leave, a pro-Brexit group close to the Brexit Party leader.
Mr Farage added: “The vast majority of people who voted Remain now say we’re a democratic county and its right we accept Brexit.
“For all these years the entire establishment supported membership of the EU.
“This time last year it looked like Brexit was dead.
“It’s been a terrible 47 year mistake, we’re righting it today.”
The UK will now begin negotiating a new trade deal with the EU, as well as other countries.
