No Time To Die: ‘Danny Boyle’s James Bond would've been UNFAITHFUL to 007’ reveals expert
Last week, the latest James Bond movie No Time To Die was pushed back to November. This marks the fourth release date for Daniel Craig’s fifth and final 007 outing. The original, set for October 2019, was back when Danny Boyle was still set to be director.
However, Boyle and his screenwriter John Hodge left the project over creative differences.
It’s not clear what exactly those were, but there was a rumour it had something to do with killing off Craig’s spy.
While the plot allegedly had something to do with the new Cold War with Russia.
Nevertheless, Cary Fukunaga has taken over what turned out to be No Time To Die – a direct sequel to 2015’s Spectre.

But now James Bond expert and author of new book Quantum of Silliness: The Peculiar World of Bond, Robbie Sims reckons Boyle’s take on Bond would not have been faithful to the franchise.
Nevertheless, he has high hopes for Christopher Nolan should he take up the task on Bond 26.
The author said: “Nolan is a Bond fan. Inception is such a love letter.
“I think he would be quite faithful to the Bond ethos in the way Danny Boyle wasn’t.”
Will Christopher Nolan director Bond 26?
The 007 expert continued: “In retrospect, I’m quite relieved we’re not getting that film because Danny Boyle’s films tend to be left field.”
Looking towards the franchise’s future, Sims reckons the Bond producers may head back to the more tongue-in-cheek antics of Sir Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan.
He said: “I have a feeling there will be a desire to go back to a more jokey Bond or at least a more fun Bond.
“So it wouldn’t surprise me if they did standalone movies for a start.”

He added: “But if they did want to carry on and do a trilogy let’s say, then get Christopher Nolan who did The Dark Knight trilogy.
“And have it all planned out from the start, rather than making it up as they go along; painting themselves into a corner, having to retcon certain aspects.
“My dream would be to have Christopher Nolan do a trilogy, but have lots of jokes it in.
“It may a fantastical dream, but a boy can dream.”
Certainly, there has been something of a tonal shift across Craig’s Bond films.
When he began with 2006’s Casino Royale, the tone was pretty serious and lacked tropes like Q, Moneypenny and gadgets.
But by the time Spectre came around, there were a few scenes, like the car chase in Italy, which wouldn’t have looked out of place in a Roger Moore outing.
No Time To Die is released in UK cinemas on November 12, 2020.
