North Korea declares its ‘invincible strength will WIN final victory against the US’
Kim Jong-un’s mouthpiece Rodong Sinmun praised May as a month of “victory” thanks to successful nuclear rocket tests.
The statement said: “If the US continues challenging the just cause of the DPRK [North Korea] in disregard of the strong might and will of North Korean people, it will never escape the merciless strike of the powerful revolutionary Paektusan army.
“Various types of the DPRK’s ballistic rockets were launched one after another to demonstrate all over the world that North Korea is fully ready for attack and defence.”
The propaganda then boasted about the success of the hermit nation despite sanctions that have been placed upon it.
It continued: “The rockets displayed the dignity of the rapidly strengthening country and its inexhaustible national power, that are products of the great spirit of self-reliance and self-development.
“The Korean people bravely tided over unprecedented ordeals under the worst sanctions of the hostile forces.
“The US and the puppet military gangsters, South Korea, cry a miserable scream and the piteous moan of losers, frightened by the missiles of the DPRK.
North Korea has repeatedly flouted United Nations and international sanctions to test a range of long-range ballistic missiles – with experts claiming the despot nation could potentially launch a missile test every two weeks for the rest of the year.
Last month’s launch of the Hwasong-12 rocket is believed to have had the capability of reaching the US mainland.
Only last week, the reclusive state fired what appeared to be several land-to-ship missiles off its east coast, just one day after the South Korean military postponed full deployment of a controversial US anti-missile system designed – THAAD – to deter a North Korean attack.
Compared to the different types of ballistic missiles Pyongyang has tested in recent months, the missiles launched last week are considered to be more defensive in nature, designed to defend against threats such as enemy warships.
In recent weeks, a US expert claimed that Kim Jong-un is “only one step away” from developing a nuclear-tipped intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), to which the Trump administration’s head of missile defence expressed “great concern”.
