Speculation is building over what design Princess Eugenie‘s wedding dress will take.

However, punters have also been placing money on what colour hat the Queen will go for on her granddaughter’s wedding, as she is known to have a penchant for bright colours.

Coral make blue the favourite for the colour of the Queen’s hat for the day at 2-1.

And it’s 3-1 she will opt for a pink number, orange take odds of 4-1 and it’s 5-1 for purple.

The latest Coral odds for the Queen’s hat are:

  • Blue – 2-1
  • Pink – 3-1
  • Orange – 4-1
  • Purple 5-1
  • Green – 8-1
  • White/cream – 10-1
  • Yellow-12-1

Harry Aitkenhead said: “Punters absolutely love having a flutter on what colour the Queen’s hat will be at any big event and this time they seem to think that blue will be the colour as she watches her sixth grandchild tie the knot.”

However Ladbrokes have pink as the new favourite with odds of 5/2.

Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “Royal punters reckon Her Majesty will be looking pretty in pink on Princess Eugenie’s big day.”

The latest Ladbrokes odds for the Queen’s hat are:

  • Pink – 5-1
  • Blue – 3-1
  • Orange – 4-1
  • Purple – 5-1
  • Green – 6-1
  • Yellow – 6-1
  • Cream/Ivory – 6-1

The monarch chose a bright lime green colour for Prince Harry and Meghan’s wedding in May and proved the bookies right with her choice, as they had odds-on she would pick green.

The Queen wore a flared dress in lime, lemon, purple, and grey and printed silk along with an edge to edge coat, both designed by Stewart Parvin.

She accessorised it with The Richmond Diamond Brooch and added the addition of an Angela Kelly hat in the same lime green tweed with sinamay adorned across the crown with handmade lace crystals and pearls made by Lucy Price.

The Queen is said to enjoy wearing lively shades so members of the public can see her in the crowd.

Sophie, Countess of Wessex, explained in documentary The Queen at 90: “She needs to stand out for people to be able to say ‘I saw the queen.’

“Don’t forget that when she turns up somewhere, the crowds are two, three, four, 10, 15 deep and someone wants to be able to say they saw a bit of the queen’s hat as she went past.”
