Queen wears floral summer dress as meets David Beckham with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry
The Queen is in Buckingham Palace this evening, meeting and greeting athletes and commonwealth members and hosting the Queen’s Young Leader Awards.
Looking summery in a floaty floral dress, the Queen beamed as she shook hands with sports superstar David Beckham.
In one of the lavish reception rooms of Buckingham Palace, the Queen met a host of celebrities including Olympic boxer Nicola Adams, Sir John Major and Lenny Henry.
Now in its fourth year, the programme celebrates the achievements of young people from across the Commonwealth looking to improve the lives of other people.
Dressing for the scorching hot day, the Queen looked radiant in a pale green shift dress, emblazoned with vintage floral prints.
A taffeta-like material with its slight sheen, the dress came to just below Her Majesty’s ankles, covered in yellow, orange and pink floral prints.
The 92-year-old accessorised the more summery look with a large pearl necklace, and her signature drop down pearl earrings.
On her feet she wore a simple pair of low-heel black patent court shoes, and carried a matching black patent handbag.
With lots of hand shaking to do, the Queen also wore a pair of crisp white gloves, with the more elegant touch of coming mid-way up her lower arm.
She also wore a summery red lip perfect for the glamorous evening occasion.
The Queen is known for her love of red lipstick, commissioning her own red lipstick for her coronation in 1952. The beautiful blue-red tone was created by Clarins and called “The Balmoral”.
After shaking hands with important guests, the Queen then joined Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for the award ceremony.
With Harry in the middle, the Queen looked comfortable and relaxed as she chatted with her grandson and his new wife.
The awards ceremony, now in its final year, celebrates those who work across a diverse range of issues.
These include mental health, education, genre equality, food scarcity and climate change.
The website for the charitable organisation states: “The Programme is now in its fourth and final year and has formed a unique community of 240 influential change-makers, who represent 53 Commonwealth countries.”
Showing her bond with the Queen, Megan sat very close to the monarch, wearing a pale pink Prada dress.
The dress, which a 50s twist, had large buttons and a belt in a matching hue to the dress.
Meghan wore black sling back heels with a bow.
Meghan broke with her current habit of constantly wearing Givenchy, this time opting for an Italian designer. The former-actress wore Prada.
