‘Remember mum used to say?’ Harry and William speak of Diana moments before Meghan arrives

In an emotional ceremony, Harry appeared to well up in the chapel as he awaited the then bride-to-be to arrive.

Turning to his brother the Duke of Cambridge, he seemed to share a personal moment with the future King, just before Meghan walked up the aisle with Prince Charles accompanying her.

A reading was given by Diana’s Sister, Lady Jane Fellowes, from the Song of Solomon, a book from the Old Testament.

As Lady Fellowes conducted her reading, Harry appeared to become teary.

A professional lip reader told Express.co.uk that Prince William said: “Do you remember when mum used to say…” to Harry.

Looking thoughtful, Harry cut in and smiled: “…yeah….I know.”

Around 20 minutes later, Prince Charles warmly takes Meghan’s arm and says: “You look lovely are you ok?”

Meghan Markle then walked down the aisle of St George’s Chapel towards the altar.

As Charles delivered the bride, Harry turned to his father and appeared to say: “Thank you pa.”

Harry appeared to tear up while singing “Guide me, O Thy Great Redeemer”.

The hymn was a favourite of his mother, Princess Diana, and was sung at her funeral in 1997.

The prince appeared to wipe a tear from his eye as the hymn ended.

He then took a deep breath and looked down at the ground as he struggled to contain his emotions.

Tens of thousands of people, including George and Amal Clooney, David Beckham and Elton John, turned out to watch the ceremony at Windsor Castle.

Meghan wore a stunning white dress designed by Clare Waight Keller for Givenchy which featured a long flowing train and five metre veil.

The royal bride entered the chapel by herself before being walked down the aisle by the Prince of Wales.

Harry also shed a tear as he watched his bride walk down the aisle.

The Archbishop of Canterbury celebrated the exchange of vows as having a “most extraordinary” sense of intimacy, despite millions around the world viewing it.

The Most Rev Justin Welby said: “There was this most extraordinary sense of intimacy. It did feel when doing the vows that it was just the three of us despite the fact there was all these millions and tens of millions of people elsewhere. It was very close, very personal, very intimate and very beautiful.

“It was a really mesmerising experience.”

Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, 61, accompanied her daughter to the chapel in a vintage Rolls Royce and shed tears of emotion at several points during the ceremony.

The royal couple, who met on a blind date in 2016 and fell in love in a tent under the stars in Botswana, later left in a silver blue Jaguar E-Type for nearby Frogmore House mansion.

Meghan, who was wearing a long white dress designed by Stella McCartney, was, in another break with tradition, to make a speech at the newlyweds’ evening event, to which about 200 guests were invited.
