“Of course, he is very sexy — his confidence and his persona and he’s had his moments of aesthetically very attractive as well, but I don’t think he felt it,” the Rocketman actor revealed.

“I think those crazy costumes went some way to compensating.”

On getting the job playing John, Egerton said he was ready to explore more serious acting territory.

“I relished the days I was required to perform something dark or tumultuous or challenging in that way,” he said.

He went on to say the day he shot the hard-hitting restaurant scene towards the end of the movie was the hardest he had on set.
