Scarface remake: Can you guess which Star Wars legend has been cast in Al Pacino’s role?
The original movie was released in 1983, a remake itself of a 1932 film of the same name – but now the new film is really hotting up.
Diego Luna, who played Cassian Andor in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, has been cast in Scarface’s title role.
The Mexican actor will play Tony Montana, a Cuban refugee who rises to become a powerful drug lord.
Luna’s other notable films are The Book of Life, Elysium, Milk, The Terminal and Open Range.
Original lyThe Magnificent Seven director Antoine Fuqua was ready to direct, however he has pulled out.
Sources told Variety Fuqua wanted to make Scarface, but couldn’t move on from his next Equalizer movie, having spent so much time on it.
Speaking with Sabotage Times, he said: “I was a cocaine addict for about two-and-a-half years prior to writing Scarface.
“I knew that world, the drug world of the early 1980s very well.”
However the Snowden director did not take the drug as inspiration, but decided to go cold turkey, moving to Paris to sober up while writing the movie.
