Secret Obsession Netflix film terrifies viewers into NOT getting married: Others HATE it

It’s the kind of headlines Netflix loves. So far, Bird Box and Spanish horror Veronica have apparently stopped viewers sleeping and traumatised thousands. But nothing so far has actually put people off getting married. The streaming giant has hit the social media jackpot again with the Brenda Strong vehicle which is currently dividing viewers into two opposing camps, with little middle ground.

The film follows the nailbiting tale of Song’s Jennifer who is attacked and then hit by a car as she is trying to get away. 

Waking up in a hospital with amnesia, her handsome husband (Miek Vogel) who she has no recollection of whatsoever rushes in and whisks her away to a very, very remote house in the mountains.

Clearly, there is nothing to worry about at all…

One fan tweeted “Movie just ended and my heart is still beating out of my chest! The suspense was unreal,” while another went even further: “I’ve always been scared about marriage cos of the stories I hear but after watching Secret Obsession, I actually don’t want to get married.”

Perhaps more worrying is why anyone is making major marital decisions based on one movie, but it is clear Netflix has managed to provoke extreme reactions again. Unlike recent spine-chillers like Bird Box and Veronica, however, the latest Neflix Original has firmly split viewers down the middle.

One one side are comments like: “Secret Obsession on Netflix was SO good but now I am legitimately terrified and can’t sleep woo hoo!” “Secret Obsession reminds me that I’m kind of scared of men.”

Celebrating being too scared to sleep or feeding into a fear of men are not the typical things to celebrate, but there are other issues many viewers are far more annoyed about.

One wrote: “It’s actually beyond words how terrible this movie is and how inept the bad guy is.” 

Another added: “Quite possibly THE worst thing I have ever seen.”

The problems were summed up by a third: “High expectations for Secret Obsession Netflix but wow I haven’t seen a movie this bad in a very long time. Bad acting. Predictable. Boring. Plot holes. Unentertaining. Had more fun commenting on everything wrong with the movie than actually watching it.”

But another common complaint was how much is being given away in the trailer: “I wanna thank Netflix for giving away the entire plot of Secret Obsession in the damn trailer.”
