Shazam post credits scene: What are the seven realms? Will they feature in Shazam 2?

Shazam is the latest in a long line of comic book adaptation movies. And like many other comic book movie adaptations, Shazam sticks to the cinematic trope of the post-credits scene. Warning: spoilers ahead for the movie Shazam.

What are the seven realms?

To understand how they matter, you have to know the history Shazam…

During the opening scenes of Shazam, a young Thaddeus Sivana is summoned to the wizard Shazam’s home in the Rock of Eternity.

Shazam tells Sivana he is looking for a champion, and only the purest of hearts can be that champion.

While Sivana is there, keen-eyed moviegoers spotted a jar in which a small worm was captive.

Sivana is seduced by the powers of the spirits of the seven deadly sins, and Shazam casts him back to reality without any powers.

Sivana grows up obsessed with Shazam and the spirits, trying to figure out how to attain their power.

Finally, he does, and as he releases the seven deadly sins and in doing so shatters the jar in which the worm was living.

By the end of the film, however, Sivana has been defeated by Shazam and confined to a jail cell.

The post-credits scene featured Sivana scrawling symbols on his cell walls when the worm appears and seduces him once more with the power of magic.

“You walking, talking monkeys with your cave drawings. You assume there’s only one way to gain magic. No, no, no.”

The worm, an alien from Venus named Mister Mind, adds: “Oh what fun we’re going to have together.

“The seven realms are about to be ours.”

What are the Seven Realms?

In the comics, the seven realms are actually The Seven Magiclands which are connected to the Rock of Eternity.

The post-credits scene hints strongly towards a sequel in which Sivana and Mister Mind work together to resurrect DC Comics villain Black Adam.

Fans are hoping a sequel could explore this dynamic, reuniting Dr Sivana with Shazam once more.
