Simon Pegg shares EXTREME weight loss body transformation for new thriller Inheritance
The Shaun of the Dead star is now a Mission Impossible regular opposite Tom Cruise but has seen a dramatic body transformation for his new film. The 49-year-old’s personal trainer Nick Lower has shared a lean picture of Pegg after six months of training. The tweet reads: “#SimonPegg 6 month body transformation for #InheritanceMovie. The brief for this role was lean, VERY lean. It required a specific body shape & look.”
Pegg himself retweeted the picture, adding: “Also occasional mild grumpiness…”
According to Deadline, Inheritance is a new thriller that “explores what happens when the patriarch of a wealthy and powerful family suddenly passes away, leaving his wife and daughter with a shocking secret inheritance that threatens to unravel and destroy their lives.”
Lily Collins stars opposite Pegg, while Terminal director Vaughn Stein is helming the project.
Meanwhile, Pegg is set to return for Mission: Impossible 7 and 8 with Cruise.
Following the critical and financial success of Mission: Impossible – Fallout last summer, Paramount Pictures have confirmed the two sequels will be filmed back-to-back.
Christopher McQuarrie returns to direct in what no doubt will have a cliff hanger at the end of the seventh film.
Jim Gianopulos, Chairman and CEO of Paramount Pictures, said: “We couldn’t be more excited to build on the massive success of Mission: Impossible—Fallout by reteaming with Chris and Tom on these next two films, following two successful collaborations.”
“We’ve also enjoyed a great partnership with Skydance and David Ellison on these three most recent films and look forward to continued success together on this great franchise.”
Speaking to Collider, McQuarrie revealed the star has some ideas for the upcoming sequels already.
McQuarrie said: “I can tell you Tom already has a lot of really big ideas. Yeah. World-topping shit.”
As for whether MI7 would head to space, McQuarrie said: “That would be entirely up to SpaceX or NASA.
“They would have to be involved with that, I would imagine. Or Paramount Pictures. I don’t know how much they want to invest,” he added.
