Spider-Man Far From Home: Does THIS prove Tom Holland is staying in MCU for the long haul?

Next summer Spider-Man returns in his second solo outing of Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe. Fans will know Sony Pictures owns the right to the Web Slinger but made a deal with Disney for him to join their franchise. Tom Holland’s Peter Parker was introduced in Captain America Civil War, before starring in Spider-Man Homecoming and Avengers Infinity War. Set to return in Avengers Endgame next year, he’ll then be back for Spider-Man Far From Home come July. But what’s next after that?

Well, it’s been assumed that Holland’s Spider-Man will complete his solo trilogy, with a third filming expected to be focused on battling the Sinister Six.

The super-villain team from the comics was first teased in the end credits scene of Spider-Man Homecoming and more characters will be introduced in Far From Home.

However, it’s anyone’s guess if Sony will want to continue their deal with Disney beyond that – especially with Avengers 5 on the horizon in about three years time.

Although, this could all be about to change, as Variety is predicting that Apple will purchase Sony Pictures next year.

Apple needs to catch up with Netflix and Amazon, and buying a Hollywood studio would give it the consultancy it needs, plus access to franchise rights.

And according to Hollywood insider Daniel R, if Apple buys Sony Pictures, the rights to Spider-Man won’t be theirs anymore.

He tweeted: “If that happens the rights for Spider-Man will revert back to Marvel Studios…”

And guess who owns Marvel Studios? Disney.

If this happens that means other characters like Venom, who has his own spin-off with Tom Hardy, will go to the House of Mouse too.

Perhaps this means Holland’s Spider-Man will be able to take him on in the same movie.

Meanwhile, Disney has bought Fox so the X-Men and Fantastic Four will be joining the MCU in the near future.

It looks like all the Marvel characters will soon be back under the same banner.
