Miles Morales’ multi-verse Spidey adventure is off to a great start. With a current approval rating of 97 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes, the reviews aggregator, Into the Spider-Verse is a formidable reincarnation of the famed Marvel web-slinger. The movie is still rolling out across cinemas, but Thursday night previews have been promising for its earnings. Having garnered such an enthusiastic response from fans and critics, Into the Spider-Verse will likely smash its predicted profits.

How much money has Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse made?

As of writing, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse has made £2.9 million ($3.5m) from its Thursday night previews alone.

The previews started at 10 pm GMT (5 pm EST) and were screened in 3,321 locations.

The animated adventure operated with a production budget of £71.5m ($90m), before promotional and advertising costs.

According to Deadline on Friday evening, the updated estimates: “see Sony’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse with a solid weekend start of £28.6m ($36m) after a £10m ($12.6m) Friday at 3,813 theatres.”

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse has an A+ CinemaScore and a five-star PostTrak score.

Matinees begin today in America, and this will likely have a huge impact on box office figures.

Social media monitor RelishMix credited word of mouth for the positive reception of Into the Spider-Verse.

They said: “Fans are excited for this unique look on the comic book creation with its multiple universe storyline.

“Others are stoked not only by the unique animation look but also by the Afro-Latino hero at the centre of the story.

“Recalling the notable soundtrack, many fans are asking about the titles of songs in the film and calling out Sunflower and other music tracks which spurred them to watch the trailer and clips again.

“Finally, for those who have seen early screenings, they’re saying the film reviews and super-positive buzz are all real, and audiences should stay until the end of the credits.”

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is the seventh iteration of the superhero from Sony.

Collectively, the previous six Spider-Man films have made £3.9 billion ($4.9b) worldwide.

Variety estimated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse could earn upwards of £31.8m ($40m) over its debut weekend.

Whether the film surpasses this estimate remains to be seen.
