Star Wars 9: Rey for surprise team-up with THIS character? New ‘leak’ surfaces

Episode 7, The Force Awakens, saw her teaming up with a wealth of characters including Finn, Han Solo and BB-8. In Episode 8, The Last Jedi, she spent most of her time with Luke Skywalker – with Kylo Ren also playing a vital part of her arc. But it seems it’s all change in the as-yet-untitled Star Wars: Episode 9, according to a new alleged (and unverified) leak.

Writing on the Star Wars Leaks thread on Reddit, user hankosheppard claimed to have heard from a friend on the production team that Rey and Rose will have their own plot.

Rose, played by Kelly Marie Tran, was introduced in The Last Jedi in 2017; introduced to the fray via John Boyega’s Finn.

The Reddit user claimed: “I heard that the movie will follow 3 plot lines: Poe and Finn in a mission, second plot line would follow Rey and Rose going in a [sic] ‘adventure’ of some sorts, and the last plot line would be from Kylo’s perspective.

“Trying to keep the [First Order] in line and fulfil his plans.”

They added: “Once again, I can’t confirm any of those things, they’re all rumours I’ve heard from someone who has a small job in production, and once in a while gets to see something interesting and reports to me…”

As ever, there’s no way to verify the claims, and the post has even been tagged with “Probable BS” on Reddit.

But without any official details to go on, trying to pinpoint which so-called leaks are real and which aren’t is all part of fun for the huge fandom.

A previous alleged leak last week claimed that Domhnall Gleeson’s villainous General Hux will be kidnapped, and that Naomi Ackie’s role is Lando Calrissian’s daughter.

Going by the timeline for The Last Jedi, we could be due the title of the new movie early in 2019, with a teaser arriving in the Spring.

This will be the final instalment in the Star Wars Skywalker saga, before LucasFilm’s attention turns to the small screen.

Two Star Wars TV shows are in the works: The Mandelorian, and a show featuring Diego Luna’s ill-fated character from Rogue One.

Star Wars: Episode 9 is out in December 2019.
