Star Wars 9: 'The real reason Kylo Ren killed Han Solo' – It's FAR worse than you think

The Sequel Trilogy has already caused quite a few disturbances in the Force. Fans have been hugely divided over many of the narrative decisions made over the last two films, but primarily in The Last Jedi. Conversely, there was universal dismay over the death of Han Solo. It didn’t create any real backlash because most understood it was a pivotal and powerful moment that had a terrible logic to it. That, and an awareness Harrison Ford almost certainly only agreed to come back for one movie. But, suddenly, it seems the reason Kylo killed his dad could be way more twisted and disturbing.

The return of Palpatine has changed everything.

What if Ben Solo/ Kylo Ren knew Palpatine was still out there and had been laying his evil plans all along?

What if he embraced the Dark Side and the transformation into Kylo Ren in order to ultimtaley defeat Palpatine? What if his famous Force Awakens declaration to “finish what you started” wasn’t made to an idealised Dark Side Vader but to the ghost of Anakin?

Did Kylo Ren really kill his father as part of a long and terrible mission? Afer all, he even asked Han to help him find the strength in those last, awful moments. Clearly a huge part of Kylo/Ben did not want to kill his father. Is this really why?

The theory was brough to life on Reddit. it says: “Kylo Ren knows Palpatine is still around and falls to the Dark Side in order to get close enough to him (and Snoke) so he can kill both.

“It’s why it was so difficult for him to kill Han “I have to do something but I don’t know if I’m strong enough, will you help me” etc. Talking to the Vader helmet, “I will finish what you started” because Palpatine isn’t truly gone and the Force is not yet balanced or something.

“He has to do whatever he can to prove his devotion to the Dark Side until the moment comes that he can take out Palpatine.”

It is tremendous and almost too terrible to contemplate. But it also contains some major flaws.

One reply from Redditor Japjer sums up the problems with this theory: “If Kylo Ren were undercover, the conversation between him and Luke would’ve been very different. Luke can read minds and intentions like open books; Kylo Ren could never hide something that big from him. The two of them would have talked, and possibly faked a fight for appearances. Assuming Luke, the single greatest force user in the universe, wouldn’t be able to tell Kylo Ren’s true intentions is just silly.”

In fact, Kylo’s greatest flaw, evident to Snoke and everyone else, is his imperfect inability to mask his emotions. It is impossible to imagine every horrific moment and explosion of rage was simply a huge deception.

Isn’t it?
