Star Wars 9 title Rise of Skywalker MEANING teased by director JJ Abrams and MORE
Last month, the first teaser trailer and title for Star Wars 9 were finally revealed. But what exactly does The Rise of Skywalker mean? After all, Luke died in The Last Jedi so does this mean some sort of redemption for Kylo Ren? Possibly. But director Abrams himself has teased that the title is not meant to be misleading.
Speaking with Empire, he said: “In coming up with the title we just looked at the film and asked ourselves, ‘What are we saying?’
“It feels very much like the title of this film.”
Well given that the last entries of the other two Star Wars trilogies focused on the Sith and Jedi, presumably Skywalker is a new order?
Perhaps a balance of the Force that’s always been talked about but hasn’t been properly manifested? Maybe Rey’s the answer there.
But how in the Sith did he survive that fall at the end of Return of the Jedi?
Presumably, Palpatine’s comeback has something to do with the Death Star ruins seen in the trailer.
Maybe he’ll be a Sith Force ghost of some kind who takes on Luke, Anakin and Yoda?
Star Wars Episode IX is released in UK cinemas on December 19, 2019.
