Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, is finally entering cinemas after a frustratingly long wait for fans. The movie will see the Skywalker saga come to an end, revealing what happens to the Empire and whether the Resistance can hold back the Dark Side. But what did fans, some of whom were present at the premiere, and critics think of the film?

“But most of all, it’s a fitting ending for this incredible, 40+ year-long saga.”

Writer Jenna Busch, of SYFY Wire, said: “#StarWars #TheRiseOfSkywalker…OH MY GOD! I am absolutely blown away!

“I’ve never been so satisfied by a film. This is the end of an era and a franchise that has defined my life and this did it justice in a way I didn’t imagine it could. You WILL cry….”

Peter Sciretta was on a similar wavelength, as the Slashfilm founder said: “#StarWarsRiseofSkywalker reaction: JJ Abrams nailed it.

“He was able to bring a cohesive arc to this trilogy that feels like a fitting end to the saga as a whole. I’m so emotionally drained.

“Star Wars fans will be very happy.”

However, senior film critic for Cinemablend Eric Eisenberg has a slightly different view, with disappointment marking his reaction to the film.

He said: “There is good in Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker. But there is more that is disappointing.

Another fan who also used the new series The Mandalorian as a basis for their user name, The Brandalorian, added: “#StarWars #TheRiseOfSkywalker is good.

“It’s big and full of surprises and, in the words of Luke Skywalker, ‘This is not going to go the way you think.’”

One fan was absolutely furious by the ending, however, taking to Twitter to say: “After processing #RiseofSkywalker as a true, genuine Star Wars fan, I can honestly say after watching this dumpster fire, Im not mad, Im depressed.

“I knew what was going to happen due to the leaks, but just watching it happen made me feel empty and sad. @starwars.”

Despite some fans not enjoying the final version of their favoruite franchise, when the film is finally shown in the UK, fans will needless to say be jumping straight onto Twitter to share their thoughts.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is out on December 19
