Star Wars: Mark Hamill compares Luke Skywalker’s DEATH in The Last Jedi to drug overdose
The Last Jedi seriously split the Star Wars fandom, with one moment in question being the death of Luke Skywalker.
Having projected himself onto Crait to face off against Kylo Ren, Luke’s last moments took place above a rock on Ahch-To; seeing him sweating before suddenly disappearing.
The moment was a very similar death scene to that of Obi-Wan Kenobi in A New Hope when he became one with the Force.
Presumably, Luke has too and is expected to return as a Force ghost in Star Wars Episode IX next year.
Now Hamill has tweeted out drawings of Luke’s death from the official comic book version of the scene, comparing the moment to a drug overdose.
The actor wrote: “THE FORCE KILLED LUKE. You have to acknowledge the irony in his fate.”
“Almost like an addict that kicked his habit cold-turkey, remained clean for decades, only to re-use just once & then, tragically, overdoses. #SadSkywalker #ForceFatality #JediJunkie.”
Meanwhile, the late Carrie Fisher will make an appearance thanks to unused footage of her from The Force Awakens, a film which JJ Abrams also directed alongside the upcoming outing.
Additionally, Billy Dee Williams returns as Lando Calrissian, so maybe he and Luke will share a scene.
Star Wars Episode IX will be released in UK cinema on December 19, 2019.
