Star Wars: Mark Hamill just revealed a mind-blowing secret about the original trilogy

A New Hope was released back in 1977 and kickstarted a global phenomenon that continues to this day. And despite its huge popularity, it seems there are still some behind-the-scenes facts we didn’t know. Speaking on Twitter, Hamill just revealed a great piece of trivia about one the most exciting scenes.

It came out when one fan tweeted him, asking: “Seeing how it’s “national trivia day”, do you have any little known facts to bestow upon us?”

The actor responded with a secret about the sequence in which the Death Star is attacked by the Rebel fighter squadron.

Hamill replied: “Because of a record heatwave in England when we filmed the original #StarWars, most of the pilots wore only the top-half of their costume, attacking the Death Star wearing shorts. #TrueStory.”

So there we have it: the Death Star was attacked by fighters in their pants.

Hamill also expertly teased another fan desperate for Star Wars: Episode 9 teasers.

The star reprises Luke Skywalker one final time in the film, which is currently in production.

“Hey Mark! Do you know ANYTHING about Star Wars IX? Thanks,” someone asked.

He cheekily responded: “Hey Michael! I know EVERYTHING about Star Wars IX. You’re welcome.”

Star Wars 9 will conclude the Skywalker saga, and the recent sequel trilogy.

A teaser trailer is thought to have been edited together, though it’s not currently known how soon it will be unveiled – and whether it’s a full trailer, or just a quick glimpse.

In any case, its title is expected to be announced in a matter of weeks – judging by the timeline of the previous movie, The Last Jedi.

Star Wars 9 is out in December 2019.
