Star Wars: New scene 'Only ONE person can save Kylo Ren' – and it's NOT Luke or Leia

In the build-up to Star Wars Rise Skywalker, an extraordinary number of new books and comics are filling in the gaps after the events of The Last Jedi, as well as delving further into the past of Resistance heroes and First Order villains alike. Rebecca Roanhorse’s upcoming novel Star Wars: Resistance Reborn gives an emotional and revealing look at the former Ben Solo’s fate in one powerful scene. Although Leia herself is not the key to her son’s redemption, the novel also expands on just how important she is to the entire fight against the First Order – and its rumoured hidden master, Palpatine.

Star Wars: Resistance Reborn is out on November 5 and directly follows the events of The Rise of Skywalker.

A new extract from the novel shows a scene between Leia and Rey discussing what happened to Kylo Ren.

Rey is struggling to understand how the son of Leia and Han, and nephew of Luke, fell from the Light. Leia admits she does not understand it herself.

Rey reveals what happened in that throne room scene where Kylo asked her to join him and why she said no.

According to Rey, she rejected the offer because: “I thought I could help him, but he only wanted me to become like him.”

Leia then delivers the crucial line. It is a recurring theme within the franchise.

As always with Star Wars, redemption can only come from within. Nobody else can help Kylo achieve any sort of salvation.

Leia says: “Ben has made his choices… No one can save Ben but himself. And I don’t know if that is what he wants.”

At the end of The Last Jedi, there was a monet when it seemed Kylo was returning to the right path, after killing Snoke and then his Praetorian Guard. Similarly, there were elements of internal conflict just before he killed Han Solo on the bridge.

Each time, the Dark Side triumphed. What will be different in Episode 9?

The rest of the extract goes on to detail Leia’s ongoing plans to spread pockets of resistance across the galaxy.

Echoing her “we have all we need” comments at the end of the Last Jedi, Leais still cings to hope that somehow something will grow from her efforts: “Today it was droplets, she thought, and tomorrow it would be a river. And perhaps, eventually, a mighty sea that could stand against the First Order. It seemed improbable, but improbable was all she had.”
