Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker SPOILER: Mark Hamill doubles down on Luke revelation
Star Wars fans don’t have much longer to wait to find out how the sequel trilogy will come to an close, with The Rise of Skywalker set for release in cinemas later this week. While Luke Skywalker (played by Mark Hamill) met his end in The Last Jedi, it’s been a widespread theory that he will be returning for the final instalment of the saga. Earlier this year, Hamill dropped a spoiler which basically confirmed he would be back for The Rise of Skywalker.
“I had closure in [The Last Jedi],” the Star Wars stalwart told Associated Press in the summer. “The fact that I’m involved in any capacity is only because of that peculiar aspect of the Star Wars mythology where, if you’re a Jedi, you get to come back and make a curtain call as a Force Ghost.”
While his comments pretty much certified Luke’s comeback as a Force Ghost for Episode 9, it seems the revelation is still considered a spoiler by some.
Last night, Hamill shared a hilarious video of his co-star Daisy Ridley, who plays Rey in the movies, fielding spoiler-seeking questions from a host of famous fans, telling his 3.4 million Twitter followers his appearance had been cut from the clip.
The video showed Ridley being interrupted by Frozen star Josh Gad, who proceeds to quiz her about the identity of Rey’s parents.

“FYI,” Hamill tweeted. “I was originally in this #TheRiseOfSkywalker video, but was edited out after referring to myself as #LukeTheSpook.
“Josh loved it, of course, but Daisy somehow still considers it a SPOILER… seriously,” he added, along with an eye roll emoji.
It seems Ridley might not have wanted Hamill’s doubling down on the news of Luke’s appearance in The Rise of Skywalker out there for fans to see.
Later in the clip, a stream of celebrities take it in turns to pop their heads through the door to bombard Ridley with questions about the plot of the upcoming Star Wars film, with Anna Kendrick probing: “Is Skywalker singular or plural? You can tell me, I’m very trustworthy…”
It’s not known exactly what will bring Luke back as a Force Ghost, but fans have also been debating rumours there could be a wave of deceased characters making a return for the final instalment of the Skywalker saga.
Some think Han Solo (Harrison Ford) will also come back to complete the trio with Luke and General Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher) for a poignant farewell.
And there’s even talk Hayden Christensen could reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker.
Star Wars fever has been mounting in recent months, especially since the final trailer for The Rise of Skywalker was released.
