Tenet movie: Robert Pattinson, Christopher Nolan tease SECRET film ‘It's not time travel’
This July sees Christopher Nolan’s latest movie Tenet released in cinemas. That is, of course, assuming movie theatres are reopened in some capacity by then. Very little is known about the new film and now the director and star Robert Pattinson have teased a little more.
From the first trailer and set videos, it looked like Tenet was some sort of time travel spy thriller.
But now Pattinson has told GQ of his character: “He’s not a time traveller.
“There’s actually no time travelling. [laughs]
“That’s, like, the one thing I’m approved to say.”

On Tenet’s plot Pattinson, said he struggled to understand it himself but revealed: “This thing, it’s so insane.
The 33-year-old revealed how the huge crew flew around the world together.
The new Batman star, called Nolan’s special effects “crazy” and added: “And in each country there’s, like, an enormous set-piece scene, which is like the climax of a normal movie.
“In every single country.”

On Pattinson’s understanding of Tenet, Nolan said: “Rob’s read on the script was extremely acute.
“But he also understood the ambiguities of the film and the possibilities that spin-off in the mind around the story.
“But a complete grasp of the script, in the case of Tenet, is one that understands and acknowledges the need for this film to live on in the audience’s mind and suggest possibilities in the audience’s mind.
“And he was very much a partner in crime with that.”

Despite Pattinson saying Tenet isn’t a time travel movie, the film’s behind-the-scenes book description appears to tease time is still a key theme.
The book is called The Secrets of Tenet: Inside Christopher Nolan’s Quantum Cold War and is listed on Amazon.
The description reads: “FROM DIRECTOR CHRISTOPHER NOLAN comes a mind-blowing espionage thriller so unique that audiences will puzzle over its intricacies for years to come.

Nolan loves to mess around with time in different ways in his movies from Memento and Inception to Interstellar and Dunkirk, so no doubt a fresh take on the theme will be seen in this film.
Tenet is released in UK cinemas on July 17, 2020.
