The Business sequel cast: Who will star alongside Danny Dyer in The Business?
Brit-film lovers will remember the noughties classic The Business, a crime drama following Frankie (played by Danny Dyer), a young cockney who wants to make it rich importing drugs with a group of ex-pat criminals in the Costa del Sol.
Since the film, Danny Dyer has gone from cult success to TV stardom as pub landlord Mick Carter in EastEnders.
But since news broke of the film’s potential sequel coming to the screen, known as Back to Business, fans have been desperate to know whether all the old fugitives would be returning to the fold.
Who is starring in The Business sequel along with Danny Dyer?
Tamer Hassan, who played ‘Playboy’ Charlie, looks set to reprise his role after it was reported he has penned a sequel and is now looking for investors to get the movie to the big screen.
A source told The Sun: “Tamer is incredibly excited about the script. Fans of The Business are going to be in for a treat.
“There’s still so much intrigue around that movie and both Tamer and Danny still get a lot of love for it.
“Danny remains dedicated to EastEnders, and shooting the movie won’t affect his role in Walford.
“But of course, he’s excited about the prospect of reuniting with Tamer on screen.”
While no other cast members have been mentioned in reports as yet, it seems unlikely psycho Sammy (played by Geoff Bell) will return after his fate in The Business.
Of those featured in The Business, potential returning characters could include schemer Carly, played by Harvey Weinstein’s ex Georgina Chapman, and ex-heroin addict Sonny, played by Roland Manookian, though neither are understood to be involved at present.
What happened in the first The Business film?
The first movie, written and directed by Nick Love and set in the 1980s, followed Dyer’s Frankie, who is desperate to “be somebody” and escape his boring life.
After beating up his mum’s abusive boyfriend, he escapes a jail sentence by sneaking off to the Costa Del Sol where he meets drug smuggler and club owner Charlie (Hassan) and gets a job as a driver.
Frankie enjoys the life of drugs, sex and money, until increasing paranoia causes the gang to split, eventually leaving Frankie and Charlie as homeless thugs before a final showdown between their old gang members.
The release and filming dates of Back to Business are yet to be confirmed.
