The Expendables sequel: Is there going to be an Expendables 4?

Of course, with the coronavirus causing the shutdown of various film sets, and the closure of cinemas, there won’t be a movie of The Expendables any time soon.

However, it looks as though things are making some moves, and we could be lucky enough to see something arrive in the next few years.

Usually when is film is getting made, things will sit in development for a little while as the filmmakers try to get the script completely right, the best directors and cast on board and, more importantly, the backing of a studio or some rich producers.

With The Expendables 4, those things were likely not too difficult to get right, though there were some cast issues when both Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger left the franchise and rejoined a few times.

An insider has, however, revealed things are perhaps on their way a little more than people may have thought.

Speaking to CinemaBlend, UFC star Randy Couture, who plays the demolition expert in the movie series, said: “It [The Expendables 4] is a thing! I got a script last year and really enjoyed reading it.

“It was very well done, but where we are on the production scale and getting it moving, I’m not sure.

“There are a lot of things going on behind the scenes with the producer to make a film that big, so I’m hoping this spring we get the green light, but I’m not hearing anything definitive right now.”

“Hired by a powerful covert operator, the team jets off to a small South American country to overthrow a ruthless dictator.

“Once there, they find themselves caught in a deadly web of deceit and betrayal.

“Using every weapon at their disposal, they set out to save the innocent and punish the guilty in this blistering action-packed thriller.”

The cast is a huge list of big names, including Schwarzenegger and Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Mickey Rourke, Terry Crews and Dolph Lundgren.
