The Nutcracker and the Four Realms trailer: How to watch Nutcracker featurette online

With a hefty dose of sparkling CGI, The Nutcracker and the Four Realms takes the classic tale into the 21st century.

Disney’s live-action remake of the ubiquitous story features an A-list cast.

A new featurette, starring some of these cast members, gives behind the scenes glimpses of the magic that went into the film.

The featurette is likely to spark some excitement for the adults accompanying children to the cinema this holiday season.

Made conspicuous by their absences in the featurette are stars Helen Mirren and Morgan Freeman.

Mirren plays the Ginger Queen, the evil ruler of the fourth realm.

While Freeman plays Drosselmeyer, the godfather of Mackenzie Foy’s character Clara.

Also appearing in the featurette are the aforementioned Foy and co-star Jayden Fowora-Knight.

Fowora-Knight plays the eponymous Nutcracker, aka Philip.

Misty Copeland, the American ballerina also stars as, understandably, the Ballerina, is also in the featurette.

Kiera Knightly is the first face glimpsed in the featurette, playing the Sugar Plum Fairy.

Finally, production designer Guy Hendrix Dyas closes the clip by describing the fourth realm as troubled.

While the movie is your typical Christmas film, the release date is a very early November 2, 2018.

The plot of the movie follows Clara (Mackenzie Foy, Interstellar) in her quest for a unique key to unlock a box she was given by her late mother.

Instead, she gets a golden thread from her godfather Drosselmeyer at his annual holiday party.

The thread leads to the key vanished into a mysterious alternate world into which Clara follows.

There, Clara meets many people and creatures alike, including Phillip, a gang of mice, and the rules of three of the four realms.

These three realms are, as described in the featurette: Land of Snowflakes, Land of Flowers and Land of Sweets.

Together, Clara and Phillip must make their way into the troubled Fourth Realm ruled by Mother Ginger to find the key and restore peace to the realms.

The Nutcracker and the Four Realms is out in cinemas on November 2, 2018.
