The Secret Garden trailer: How to watch new Colin Firth trailer online

The Secret Garden is set to return to the big screen with Colin Firth and Julie Walters in the cast. The film has been adapted from the beloved children’s book by Frances Hodgson Burnett by Harry Potter and the Cursed Child writer Jack Thorne. And now a trailer has been released to give fans an idea of what to expect.

How can I watch the new trailer of The Secret Garden online?

The new trailer has been released by StudioCanal, the studio behind the new film, and is available to stream on YouTube.

The trailer sees a young Mary Lennox, played by young actress Dixie Egerickx, sent from a life in India to live with her uncle, Lord Archibald Craven (Colin Firth.)

She has been neglected in India, and it seems she is neglected here as she meets a firm-handed Mrs Medlock (Julie Walters) who seems intent on getting her in line.

When she arrives that the house, it is almost totally empty, dark, with an eerie turquoise hue which adds a touch of magic.

Mrs Medlock looks fierce and serious, while Lord Craven is dishevelled and clearly dealing with a lot in life.

As Mary looks around she stumbles upon a young boy in a huge bed, in the centre of a large room where he seems to be hidden away.

Fans of the novel will know this is her young cousin, Colin, who is disabled and therefore kept in his room.

But the change for Mary comes in the outside world, where the colours are vivid and bright.

She and her friend follow a red robin into a tree, where they find a key covered in leaves and dirt.

Mary has heard all about the Secret Garden and is desperate to find it, as she is seen climbing walls and clambering around the grounds in an attempt to find it.

As she finally gets in, viewers will be captivated to see roses, ruins and an almost jungle-like scene, with water falls and long grass and incredible plants that seem to have life of their own.

But within the joy of Mary discovering the magical garden, we hear Lord Craven telling her: “If you cause me trouble, I will have you sent away in an instant.”

We also see Mrs Medlock grabbing her arm, and telling her: “I knew you were hiding something.”

Despite the terrible adults in her life, Mary’s spirit cannot be broken as she asks the audience: “This garden is capable of extraordinary things – will you believe in the magic?”

As she and her friend Dickon run through the fields, the plants and flowers grow around their hands as they run past, showing just how magical the garden really is.

When is The Secret Garden out in cinemas?

No specific date has been confirmed at present.

The trailer tells fans to expect the garden to be reopened in Spring 2020, while the current date which has been listed by the Film Distributors’ Association as Friday, April 17, 2020.

However, fans will certainly be told the exact date as it comes closer, so the date will likely be confirmed after Christmas.
