Hemsworth has played the God of Thunder in multiple Marvel movies, including three solo flicks – Thor, Thor: The Dark World and Thor: Ragnarok. The latter is credited with revitalising the character and the franchise, with Hemsworth and director Taika Waititi injecting it with some much-needed humour and lightness of touch. Part of that vibe is one uproarious line when Thor comes face-to-face with Hulk.

Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night alongside Paul Rudd, Scarlett Johansson and Robert Downey Jr, Hemsworth was asked to identify his favourite line that he has ever had to deliver.

“When we were shooting Ragnarok we had a young kid on set who was unwell at the time, and had come to visit,” he recalled.

“We were shooting the scene with Hulk and Thor in the arena and it was right when I was talking to Hulk and I was saying, ‘oh my God, it’s you, where have you been?’

“[The kid] was on the sideline, and he was like, ‘why don’t you say, when you look up at Loki and the crowd, say “he’s a friend from work!”’

“So the kid gave us that line and it became one of the best lines of the movie.”

Paul Rudd, who plays Ant-Man, also revealed his personal highlight.

“The very first time I filmed with these guys on Civil War, it was pretty spectacular – because we’d already filmed Ant-Man but that was in a little bit of a bubble,” he said.

“Suddenly I was seeing everybody in their suits and it was very exciting.

“In fact one time Chris Evans had to run off to use the bathroom or something, and he asked the prop guy to hold his shield.

“As he walked off I just said, ‘can I try it?’ I took the shield and it was very exciting – not dissimilar to what my character was filming in the scene!”

Avengers: Endgame will bring the current phase of Marvel storytelling to a close, with several stars – such as Hemsworth – rumoured to be ending their time as their respective characters.

Meanwhile, Hemsworth has said he would “love” to replace Daniel Craig as James Bond.

Avengers: Endgame is out on April 25 in the UK.
