Thrifty Kate Middleton re-wears £3000 Catherine Walker coat to Sandringham church service
Kate Middleton and Prince William were pictured in Sandringham, Norfolk today on their way to church. The Duchess of Cambridge wore a chic blue coat to the service; the last time fans saw Kate wearing the Catherine Walker coat was back in February last year. The jacket, which is believed to cost around £3000, fell past her knees and featured a high neck with a full collar to keep the chill at bay. She paired the coat with a matching blue headband which boasted a bow just above her ear.
A hint of a dark polka dot dress could be seen poking out beneath the blue coat.
Kate braved the elements with bare legs which were elongated by high heels.
The mother-of-three held a dark blue clutch in her hand and completed the look with drop pearl earrings.
The Duchess could be seen smiling as she walked alongside her husband Prince William.
The future King of England wore a traditional suit and wrapped up warm with a knee-length coat.
The royal couple attended the same church – St Mary Magdalene Church – on Christmas Day.
The historic church is a short walk from the royal family’s home at Sandringham.
When the royal family are in residence they attend services here and royal children are traditionally christened there.
On Christmas Day Kate opted for a chic red coat – fitting for the time of year – by one of her favourite British designers, Catherine Walker.
The long-sleeved, fitted coat featured a smart velvet collar and velvet cuffs and is estimated to have cost around £3,000.
Suitable for the cold weather, it fell below her knees and tapered in at the waist, emphasising her svelte frame.
Kate wore a small broach and teemed the chic coat with burgundy gloves and £425 red suede heels by Jimmy Choo. She also sported a £650 felt burgundy headband with a black felt bow by milliner Jane Taylor.
In her hand, Kate carried a clutch bag of a similar hue. The Duchess wore her hair part up and part down and opted for simple small hoop earrings.
Royal commentators claimed the Kate and Meghan Markle – who arrived together at the Christmas service with their respective husbands – projected a strong image of family in the photographs taken on the way to church.
Speaking on their ‘Royally Obsessed’ podcast, writers Kaitlin Menza and Lisa Ryan said” “It was no accident that they positioned the two women in the middle together, Kate and Meghan were side by side.”
They described how the images showed: “Everything’s great, they’re just two sisters-in-law, having a great time.”
