Top Gun 2: Val Kilmer teases ‘MOVING’ and ‘surprising’ Iceman scenes with Tom Cruise
It’s been over three decades since Maverick and Iceman clashed in Top Gun. But now both Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer are reprising their iconic rivals for Top Gun 2. In a new interview, the former Batman has teased their secret scenes together.
Speaking with GMA to promote his new autobiography I’m Your Huckleberry, Kilmer said: “It was absolutely moving.
“I really was surprised and Tom was wearing his jacket.
“The original jacket from the first movie, it was just very moving.
“I don’t want to give away anything, but in between takes, Tom and I just laughed like we were in high school.”

While the 60-year-old admitted to The New York Times Magazine that the pilots are no longer adversaries in Top Gun: Maverick.
Kilmer said: “We’re friends.
“This time we’re friends.”
So far Kilmer’s return as Iceman hasn’t appeared in any promotional stills or trailers for Top Gun 2.

This has had some fans speculating that Iceman is killed off in Top Gun: Maverick.
Perhaps, Kilmer’s part is a cameo in the form of a flashback or death bed scene?
Whatever the case, the actor has admitted in his autobiography that he begged Top Gun 2 producers and Cruise for his Iceman to return.
According to USA Today, he wrote: “As The Temptations sang in the heyday of Motown soul, ‘ain’t too proud to beg.’”

The star revealed how he reached out to producers, creating “heartrending scenes with Iceman.”
“The producers went for it. Cruise went for it.
“Cruise couldn’t have been cooler.
“Tom and I took up where we left off. The reunion felt great.”
Top Gun 2’s synopsis reads: “Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell keeps pushing the envelope after years of service as one of the Navy’s top aviators.
“He must soon confront the past while training a new squad of graduates for a dangerous mission that demands the ultimate sacrifice.”
The sequel was originally set for a summer release but has been pushed back to Christmas due to the pandemic.
Top Gun: Maverick is released in UK cinemas on December 23, 2020.
