Travelodge Brentford fire: Evacuation sees guests flee hotel as blaze ravages building
A huge blaze has broken out at a Travelodge in Brentford as more than 100 firefighters rushed to tame a huge the fire. One witness described a chaotic scene in which “firefighters are struggling to contain,” as well as reporting that the fire had spread to the hotel’s roof.
Footage shared on social media shows a plume of deep black smoke piercing the sky, as flames spit through the hotel’s top floors.
A Twitter user who appeared to be a guest at the hotel said a member of the public had ran through the hotel’s corridors warning people to flee the burning building.
There are currently 15 fire engines at the hotel in Kew Bridge, London, after the fire started in the early hours of this morning.
The London Fire Brigade said the whole of a bin room on the ground floor is alight.
It added that the fire had spread to an adjacent hotel of five floors.
Station Commander Nathan Hobson who is at the scene said:
“Firefighters are carrying out a systematic search of the hotel.
“The Brigade’s Control took seventeen 999 calls to the visible blaze.”

Austin Tant, who is at the scene, said the fire “has spread to to the roof” and that “fire fighters are struggling to stop the spread”.
Another witness, Ian Hooper said: “Theres is an incredibly large fire by the Mcds on Brentford high street, fire brigade in attendance, really hope everyone is safe.”
