UK snow forecast: Charts show snow encircling Britain as freezing winds strike across UK
Temperatures plunged to as low as -9C in some parts of rural Scotland with Arctic conditions taking hold in the country. As the UK officially enters meteorological winter, conditions in the country are likely to remain dry and cold. According to the latest weather forecast charts, bitterly cold air will likely move southwards across the northern half of the country on Wednesday and Thursday, and again into the start of the weekend.
The WxCharts also claim these dates are when the country is most likely to be hit by snow.
The chart, which analyses the probability of snowfall, suggests a chance of snow falling in Scotland on Wednesday evening, and then a high chance of snow impacting northern Scotland and possibly northern England during the early hours of Saturday morning.
BBC Weather forecaster, Alina Jenkins, warned the freezing conditions were likely to stick around towards the start of this week.
She claimed temperatures were likely to not nosedive to as low as conditions on Saturday night, but could still fall to -1C in some parts of England during the early hours of Monday morning.

She said: “To sum up the week ahead, it starts mainly dry, away from Scotland. Certainly cold at first, as we head towards the end of the week, we will see the return of something wetter and windier.
“So the dominating feature through the first half of the week is this area of high pressure. Notice that fronts are just fringing Scotland, in a much wetter and windier day here on Monday.
“The rain, initially on the western side of Scotland tracking its war northeastwards throughout the day and quite heavy and persistent across the Northern Highlands and the Northern Isles.
“Further south across Scotland, mainly dry but quite cloudy – for England and Wales, some spell of sunshine once the fog lifts. Temperatures typically in a range of 10C to 6C.”

Moving into the middle part of the week, the BBC Weather forecaster warned of unsettled conditions barrelling across much of the country.
The north of the country is likely to see “heavy downpours of rain”.
The BBC Weather forecaster added: “It is really the end of the week we will start to see the return to something wetter and windier. Those isobars much closer together, outbreaks of rain will extend their way eastwards – pretty much across all of the UK.”
Despite temperatures likely to pick up into the double figures, the BBC Weather forecaster claimed it may not feel that way with heavy rain and strong gusts.
Moving into next weekend, the UK is likely to be battered by a huge Atlantic system packing heavy rain and strong winds.
