UK weather forecast: Met Office warns of SCORCHING weekend – temperatures to rocket to 33C
The country will continue to be battered by incredibly hot weather as the Met Office warns temperatures could go as high as 33C (91F) in some parts of the country.
Met Office meteorologist Clare Nasir warned despite some patches of clouds on both Saturday and Sunday morning stong sunshine will be enjoyed throughout the country this weekend.
Ms Nasir said: “Saturday, spot the difference, to be honest.
“There could be a bit of patchy cloud first thing, particularly across the western side of Wales but again with that sunshine burning back.
“And then for the far north, you see some patchy cloud, elsewhere strong sunshine through the day and into evening time.
“Temperatures on 30C-32C (86-90F), up to the mid to high 20sC for Scotland and Northern Ireland.
“Through Sunday a similar situation, just subtle changes across the west where a weak weather front will bring with it more on the way of cloud and perhaps a spot or two of rain.
“Elsewhere you can see strong sunshine through the afternoon and temperatures again to 30C-32C.
“Perhaps even a 33C, it’s not out of the question.
“And as we head to next week, well, some good news if you can’t cope with the heat and temperatures up to 30C.
“It’s easing its way into Tuesday and Wednesday, again with some sunshine and no rain on the horizon yet.”
An amber weather warning has now been issued for the UK as 33C temperatures approach, indicating a potential risk to the public.
The Met Office has warned that parts of England, particularly in the west, could see temperatures reach unbearable levels.
Public Health England has echoed the warning, stating that people need to take care this weekend.
Dr Thomas Waite of PHE said: “While many of us will be enjoying the hot weather over the next few days, for some it can pose a real health risk.”
The latest weather warning will be in place until 9am on Monday, indicating a whole weekend of difficult temperatures.
Bookmakers have slashed odds on this summer being the hottest ever, with Ladbrokes stating its 1/4 that this summer breaks previous records.
The sunshine has had a knock-on effect on our water services, however, with a hosepipe ban already in force in Northern Ireland.
Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “It looks like the 2018 heatwave could surpass that of 1976, and Brits should get ready for endless days of sizzling sunshine.”
The hot weather could extend into August, allowing the UK a rare summer of blazing sun and hot temperatures.
