UK’s Top 10 favourite movie musicals REVEALED: Mamma Mia and The Greatest Showman NOT No 1

Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again and The Greatest Showman have proven to be huge box office smashes in the last year.

Not to mention record sales success for their movie soundtracks in the UK charts.

Now new research by Showcase Cinemas has found that almost half of Brits count musicals as their favourite film genre.

In fact one in three have seen a musical at the cinema in the last 12 months alone.

While women are slightly more musical-mad then men, twice as many men admitted they watch musicals on their own at the cinema than women.

But while Mamma Mia! and The Greatest Showman have proven to be huge hits over the last year, neither are the UK’s favourite movie musical.

The top prize goes to 1978’s Grease, which won an impressive 17% of the overall vote.

Meanwhile La La Land didn’t even make the Top 10, which you can view below.
