Venom DVD release date: When is Venom released on DVD – Is there a special edition?

Venom is shaping up to be a big win for Sony.

The studio took a risk adapting the Marvel character for a feature film without Spider-Man.

But the risk seems to have paid off and Venom currently holds the record for the best opening weekend in October.

With the movie still playing in cinemas, some die-hard fans are already searching for the DVD pre-order link.

When is Venom released on DVD?

No official release date for the Venom DVD has been announced.

The best guess date is sometime in January 2019.

The digital release for Venom will also likely drop in January 2019, within a few days of the DVD.

HMV is already offering pre-orders for the Blu-ray, DVD, and Venom (HMV Exclusive) Limited Edition 4K Ultra HD Steelbook.

Will there be a special edition Blu-ray or DVD for Venom?

Though nothing has been confirmed, there will likely be a special edition released.

Tom Hardy himself claimed 40 minutes of extra footage exists and was cut from the movie, which could find their way to TV screens on a special edition DVD release.

With a wealth of footage available, it would be an oversight not to include it on a special release for fans.

The Venom movie will also likely wind up on a streaming site like Netflix for those with subscriptions to watch.

But fans who want the bonus features will have to spend the extra money on the digital release, or the DVD.

Amazon tends to sell package deals of digital releases and Blu-ray or DVDs.

As of writing Amazon offers the digital, DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K Ultra as distinct options for pre-order.

Whether they contain bonus features remains to be seen.

Any bulk deal on Amazon has also yet to be confirmed but if Marvel and Warner Bros are anything to go by, the Sony film will have a deal of its own for sale.

Denmark cinemas get the Venom movie today, while Japan has to wait until November 2.

With three months at least to wait for the DVD, fans will have to satisfy themselves by heading to Reddit to swap reactions.
