Will Meghan Markle’s wedding dress top Kate’s? Designer reveals it will be 'subtler'
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been sharing many of the details of their big day with the public via Kensington Palace’s Twitter account.
However, one aspect of the big day that remains strictly under-wraps is the wedding dress.
Now one of the world’s premiere wedding gown designers Vera Wang, 68, from New York, has revealed her predictions for the dress.
She believes Meghan’s gown will be ‘subtler’ that Kate Middleton’s and Princess Diana’s.
Other famous women who have worn Vera Wang wedding dresses include Ivanka Trump, Kim Kardashian, Chelsea Clinton and Victoria Beckham – a friend of Meghan’s, according to reports.
Wang predicted that Meghan would wear a British designer.
She told Harper’s Bazaar: “Other than [wearing] us, and she’s not wearing us – there are two ways for her to go: American or British.
“Given her new position, her new status, and her new role, she’ll very well go British.”
So how will her dress compared to that of Kate Middleton, 36, and the late Diana?
“Neither full blown royal wedding like Diana or Kate, and neither narrow, sensual and more sexy – I think she’ll go somewhere in-between that feels a tad more modern,” Wang told the publication.
She also ruled out Meghan Markle opting for a super sexy mermaid gown.
“Something maybe a tad subtler, not a mermaid but not a full blown royal proportion or anything theatrical.
“Given that she’s not marrying the future king, she’ll still be a royal, [but] there’s a lot to be done between those two worlds.”
Kate Middleton married Prince William, 35, in an Alexander McQueen gown designed by Sarah Burton in April 11.
The bride looked stunning in an ivory and white silk gown.
Inspired by Victorian corsetry, the dress nipped in at the waist and had padding on the hips to accentuate her figure.
Princess Diana’s wore show stopping gown during her wedding to Prince Charles, 69, made by David and Elizabeth Emanuel.
Princess Diana had two bouquets, and it’s all because of the Queen. But why?
She carried a cascade of flowers designed by Longmans Florist, which is no longer in business.
The bouquet featured gardenias, stephanotis, odontolglossum orchid, lily of the valley, Earl Mountbatten roses, freesia, veronica, ivy, myrtle and trasdescantia.
Kate Middleton’s wedding day perfume was White Gardenia Petals by Illuminum, a nod to her later mother in law.
