10×10 Luke Evans thriller: Exclusive first-look clip of psychological thriller 10X10

Luke Evans stars in the psychological thriller 10×10, the story about a man on the search for the truth.

But his tale is far from straightforward.

Starring alongside Evans is Kelly Reilly (of Sherlock Holmes, and Pride and Prejudice as Cathy) who plays the woman trapped in the 10×10 room.

Lewis (Luke Evans) is an outwardly ordinary guy but he is hiding an obsession with a stranger named Cathy (Kelly Reilly).

10×10 is a lesson in moral ambiguity, all while subverting the audience’s expectations.

Lewis kidnaps Cathy in the middle of the day, locking her in a soundproof cell in his home as he attempts to extract a dark secret from her past.

Her name.

Yes, most people are thinking: what’s so important about a name?

But, as we have already affirmed, the story is far from straight-forward.

The clip shows Cathy, writhing around in the dark 10×10 cell trying to break free from her restraints.

While, Lewis moves through his meticulously decorated flat, laying a plate of food on the table.

Though hog-tied, Cathy somehow manages to get partly free – giving her limited movement so when Lewis enters, she sucker punches him.

The ensuing struggle is tense and hard to watch.

The soundtrack, if you can call it that, are ambient noises – something that sounds like a ticking clock, and a fuzzy bass noise which mounts and mounts as she runs for her life.

But before she can escape, he fires a gun – missing her on purpose, as she bangs on the glass door of the soundproof house, standing on its own in the rural landscape.

If you’re looking for something gory and complicated, 10×10 is the way to go.

Vulture wrote: “Both Luke and Kelly can go from bland to bestial in a second flat, and their final, gory grapplings are wincingly well-staged.”

Similarly, Film Threat called it a ‘tightly wound’ 88 minutes.

“As tension builds between Lewis and Cathy, it translates to our experience watching the film,” they wrote.

10×10 is available on DVD and digital download August 27, 2018.
