It’s the breakout smash of the summer box office in the US. Made for a modest $30million, the film has already taken an impressive $137million in the US alone.

It is the first major US-made movie with an all-asian cast since the Joy Luck Club in 1993 and the biggest romcom hit since 2009.

But is it just for a asian audience, or even just for lovers of the flashy consumerism on display in the trailer? Or is there so much more going on?

Watch the cast spill those lucrative beans to Express Online.

Leading man Henry Golding is as charming as he is gorgeous.

He is also a diehard romantic, although swooning ladies and gents out there (me included) be warned that he is happily married.

He told me: “It’s about love. It’s about love between a young couple. It’s about love between a mother and son. It’s about love between family and the challenges you have to overcome to won that love.”

Everybody still swooning out there?

SCROLL DOWN TO WATCH AWKWAFINA AND KEN JEONG TACKLE THE SAME QUESTION IN THEIR OWN STYLE

Ken Jeong added: “It’s a big romcom. Its’s an epic movie. It’s the most successful romcom for nine years. It’s an amazing movie off an amazing book. It’s really someting special.”

His co-star and on-screen daughter Awkwafina pointed out the ground-breaking similarities to recent gay teen romcom Love Simon.

She said: “This is a very risky movie, like Love Simon, but they needed to happen in 2018 and when they did they were received with open arms.

“This is not a movie for asian people. It’s just broadening people’s understanding of the culture.”

Crazy Rich Asians opens in the UK this week and arrives on a tide of hype and positive reviews. The movie currently holds a crazy good aggregate of 93% on Rotten Tomatoes and I would happily endorse that.

The movie also stars Michelle Yeoh and British actress Gemme Chan, as well as Glee alumni Harry Shum Jr in a cheeky cameo at the end which might just set up the sequel.

Crazy Rich Asians is out in the UK on September 14
