The clip has premiered on Good Morning America in the US and shows Blunt alongside Lin-Manuel Miranda, Emily Mortimer, Ben Whishaw, Dame Angela Lansbury and even Meryl Streep.

Dick Van Dyke’s cameo is also teased in the trailer, which can be seen above.

Mary Poppins Returns is expected to dominate the box office when it’s finally released this Christmas – 54 years after the original.

Juile Andrews, who first played the titular icon, is not expected to appear.

The official synopsis reads: “In Disney’s Mary Poppins Returns, an all new original musical and sequel, Mary Poppins is back to help the next generation of the Banks family find the joy and wonder missing in their lives following a personal loss.

‘Emily Blunt stars as the practically-perfect nanny with unique magical skills who can turn any ordinary task into an unforgettable, fantastic adventure and Lin-Manuel Miranda plays her friend Jack, an optimistic street lamplighter who helps bring light—and life—to the streets of London.

“Mary Poppins Returns is directed by Rob Marshall. The screenplay is by David Magee and the screen story is by Magee & Rob Marshall & John DeLuca based upon the Mary Poppins Stories by PL Travers.

“The film also stars Ben Whishaw as Michael Banks; Emily Mortimer as Jane Banks; Julie Walters as the Banks’ housekeeper Ellen; Pixie Davies, Nathanael Saleh and introducing Joel Dawson as the Banks’ children, with Colin Firth as Fidelity Fiduciary Bank’s William Weatherall Wilkins; and Meryl Streep as Mary’s eccentric cousin, Topsy.

“Angela Lansbury appears as the Balloon Lady, a treasured character from the PL Travers books and Dick Van Dyke is Mr. Dawes, Jr., the retired chairman of the bank now run by Firth’s character.”

Director Marshall has previously spoken out on why Andrews does not have a presence.

“She had known it was in the works, then we said, ‘We’re doing it,’ and she said, ‘Oh, thank God,'” he told Entertainment Weekly.

“Then we said, ‘And we’re thinking of Emily Blunt,’ and she just threw her hands up in the air and said yes. I think a lot of people feel that way about Emily’s work.”

He added: ”Julie was incredibly gracious, and we talked about it in a very general way but she made it clear right up front.

“She said, ‘This is Emily’s show, and I really want it to be Emily’s show. I don’t want it to be, oh, here comes that Mary Poppins.

“‘I don’t want that. I really want her to take this and run with it, because she will be brilliant.'”

Mary Poppins Returns is out on December 21.
