Queen Letizia of Spain, 46, visited Salamanca University yesterday sporting a noticeably shorter new hairstyle.

The Spanish royal who is known for her contemporary style opted for the change in time for the start of the new fashion season.

Mother-of-two Letizia, who normally wears her hair past her shoulders, debuted the chic new bob earlier this month.

The Queen also appears to have gone a little darker of late however her signature blonde highlights can still be seen.

Yesterday, the monarch stepped out in the Spanish sun to visit a science park and university.

The stunning royal joined her husband King Felipe VI, 50, at Salamanca University for a 30th anniversary celebration.

She wore a beautiful monochrome dress for the event featuring tiny black squares which looked like polka dots from a distance.

A dark coloured belt nipped the dress in at the waist and complimented her simple clutch bag and sling-back shoes.

Wearing her hair down in a sleek bob with a slightly off-centre parting the royal looked the picture of elegance.

Her latest outing comes three days after the Spanish Queen celebrated her 46th birthday.
