James Bond rumour: ‘Henry Cavill being lined up to replace Daniel Craig after Bond 25’

Shooting on Craig’s fifth and final James Bond movie may be getting under way next March, however that doesn’t stop speculation over his replacement.

As it stands Henry Cavill has odds as short as 4-1 to replace the incumbent Bond, who he lost out to in auditions for Casino Royale back in 2005.

The Superman star was the director’s choice but was considered too young at 22.

Now aged 35 however, the dashing actor will be around the right starting age for a new Bond when the auditions begin again in a few years.

And now Crazy Days and Nights, a Hollywood insider gossip site, have claimed that Bond producers have their eye on Cavill for when Craig hands in his Licence to Kill.

According to Comic Book, the website posts blind items that hint at identities without naming them.

A post on September 13 read: “The producers of this long running franchise don’t care at all about the cloud swirling around the head of this foreign born former superhero.”

And since September 20 it’s been updated with: “Henry Cavill/James Bond.”

Speaking with Yahoo Movies, Cavill said: “I would love to do it of course. I think Bond would be a really fun role. It’s British, it’s cool.

“I think that now that I have my Mission: Impossible badge we can do real stunts and really amp it up as well.

“Not to say they weren’t doing real stunts I’m just saying it would be fun for me to actually take what I’ve learnt on this and carry it through to a movie like Bond.”

“I’d love to play a Brit. I don’t get to play a Brit very often. “So yes, I would love the opportunity and if they were to ask I would say ‘yes.’
