Who is a secret Skrull?

It could be literally anyone, since the pesky shape-shifting aliens can not only transform themselves to look like any one (or more) of the Marvel heroes, they can also replicate their powers.

After their dramatic introduction in the recent Captain Marvel trailer, fans are now aware there is a major new force at work in the MCU. Ben Mendelsohn was shown in both his Skrull form and as a human who has infiltrated SHIELD.

Now a new photo from the Avengers 4 set in Atlanta has ignited new theories about who else might be masquerading as an ally but is really a hidden enemy.

Doctor Strange actor Benedict Wong pasted an intriguing and rather disturbing image on his Instagram.

It showed him on set in hair and make-up as the team peeled away the back of his head and part of his face.

One fan Dvaismyhero posted: “Wong is a skrull… When the skrulls reveal themselves, they literally shed their skins. F***ing calling it.”

Could the lovable sorcerer really be revealed as an evil infiltrator?

In the image itself, Wong teased: “Happy to be filming Avengers 4 but the cleaning of spoilers is a bit much.”

Other fans poined out this image would clearly categorise as a huge spoiler.

One suggested: “It’s entirely possible that a Skrull is just impersonating him temporarily. It doesn’t necessarily mean that the Wong we saw in Doctor Strange and Infinity War was a Skrull.”

It would make sense that Skrulls would sometimes only take the place of a key character when the opportunity presented itself and for only as long as was needed to achive a particular goal or missing.

This suddenly raises a mid-boggling number of possibilities and fears for Avengers 4, however Wong is unlike to be revealed as Skrull in this image.

The most logical explanation is that they are removing an intricate hairpiece used for continuity reasons to match a previous scene or plotline that is being expanded during the reshoots.
