Venom release date UK: When does Venom come out in cinemas in the UK?

Venom will be out in UK cinemas from Friday, October 5 and in the US at the same time.

The Venom movie is based on the popular Spider-Man spinoff character.

Directed by Ruben Fleischer, and starring Academy Award nominated actor Tom Hardy in the titular role.

Hardy stars as Eddie Brock, a journalist who becomes the host of a powerful, symbiotic alien that gives him superhuman abilities.

A symbiotic is a creature that has to bond with another being to survive.

The movie’s supporting cast members include Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, Jenny Slate and Woody Harrelson.

Venom has been given a PG-13 rating, and hails from Sony’s Marvel Universe of characters and will not be a spinoff of the current Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The character first appeared in the comic book as an alien costume worn by Spider-Man in Marvel’s The Amazing Spider-Man.

But it was several years before the creature left Peter Parker and merged with photographer Eddie Brock, forming the antihero known as Venom.

The comic version of Eddie Brock had a personal vendetta against Spider-Man.

However his strict moral code prevents him from harming “innocents”.

Venom has already reached the big screen, when the character was played by Topher Grace in the 2007 film Spider-Man 3.

Speaking at Comic Con, Tom Hardy revealed his decision to play the character.

He said: “My son came to me with a specific character that he absolutely fell in love with, and I started to take a look at it myself.

“And then, as if by magic, a script appeared on the horizon, which was awesome.

“Because having had done Dark Knight [Rises] with Chris[topher Nolan], I’d kind of done my superhero bit in some aspects.

“But when I was presented with the opportunity to play Venom, and that correlated with my son’s love for Venom and how cool he was, I got really really excited and decided I really wanted to do it.”

Will there be a post-credits scene?

Sony has used this element in previous Marvel superhero movies, including in The Amazing Spider-Man films, so it is likely Venom will treat fans to an extra scene at the end of the movie.
