Avengers 4: Scarlet Witch comeback UPDATE after shocking Infinity War death
Elizabeth Olsen has allegedly been seen filming new scenes for next year’s Avengers 4.
Although the film’s principle photography was completed some time ago, reshoots are currently in progress in Atlanta, USA – with numerous reports claiming Olsen has been spotted in the area.
Scarlet Witch had a particularly brutal exit: she was forced to essentially destroy Vision in a bid to stop Thanos getting the Mind Stone, only to then watch him die again anyway when the villain used the Time Stone.
Her return for more scenes isn’t a massive surprise, given how popular Olsen has proven with MCU fans, but she is one of the few deceased characters without any future Marvel movies in the pipeline.
Unlike Tom Holland’s Spider-Man and Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange, for example, there is no concrete evidence at present of plans for her to have a continued presence.
Also seen at reshoots, according to reports, is Pom Klementieff, who plays Mantis.
Mantis, one of the Guardians of the Galaxy, turned to ash when Thanos collected all of the Infinity Stones, but her comeback shouldn’t be too much of a shocker.
It’s no secret that Klementieff was due to return for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 before that whole project got thrown up in the air by the James Gunn controversy.
But her return for reshoots will still be welcome news for MCU fans still questioning how the almighty cliffhanger of Infinity War will be continued.
Of course it’s not known in what capacity all of these dead characters will be returning: time travel has been a very prominent theory for many, with some also reckoning that the dead are inside the ‘world’ of the Soul Stone.
There is also the possibility, however small, that the dead characters will stay dead – and these new sequences are merely flashbacks or visions, not taking place in present-day reality.
Unfortunately we have another seven months to wait before concrete answers are revealed.
In the meantime, the next MCU release is Captain Marvel; set in the 1990s and due for release in March.
That film will formally introduce Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers to the universe, ahead of her role in Avengers 4.
Spider-Man’s next caper Far From Home is also in the works; due for release next summer – the other side of the as-yet-untitled Avengers 4.
Avengers 4 is out on April 26, 2019.
