Tesla in DESPERATE attempt to boost sales with customer freebies after value PLUNGED
Elon Musk’s company has been fighting a battle to ramp up production of its vehicles for the past couple of months, as its stock value has been dropping since the business magnate tweeted on August 7 about taking the company private.
On August 7 stock in Tesla was valued at $379.57 (£289.39).
It plunged to just $263.24 (£200.70) on September 7, but it has since risen slightly.
In a bid to drive up revenue, Mr Musk requested on Twitter for volunteers to flock to distribution centres across the US, and help the company by answering questions from buyers.
Mr Musk wrote on Twitter: “The coming week is incredibly intense.
“If any current Tesla owners who’d like to help educate new owners could head to Tesla delivery centres during midday on Sat/Sun & morning/evening on weekdays, that would be super appreciated!”
The request came just weeks after the multi-billion dollar company said it was axing thousands of employees.
Many Tesla owners, including Ryan McCaffrey, the chief executive of Previews at IGN, responded with huge enthusiasm to Mr Musk’s offer.
Mr McCaffrey replied to the business magnate on Twitter: “A lot of Tesla owners, including myself, would be delighted to volunteer, for free, to help with deliveries in times like this.
“We can’t do their paperwork but we can do orientations.
“It’s fun to educate new owners and see their joy and enthusiasm!”
The multi-billion dollar firm is also offering $100 credits towards charging at Tesla’s network of stations, Boomerang reported.
The turbulent time for Tesla has gone hand in hand with its CEO.
Elon Musk has made headlines in recent months following a series of high-profile incidents.
The business magnate, who is worth a staggering $20.8 billion (£15,852billion) and is also CEO, founder and lead designer of aerospace manufacturer SpaceX.
In the past few months, he has tweeted about taking Tesla private, called a British cave diver a paedophile and appeared to smoke marijuana while taking part in a podcast.
He also revealed his use of Ambien to help him sleep.
